Video

I've had a strong interest in video for as long as I can remember, especially an interest in producing. I've been extensively trained in shooting video footage with a DSLR camera, and editing footage with Final Cut X and Adobe Premiere.

As a part of a project at the Columbia MIssourian, I began creating videos to post directly to our Facebook. The video above was the first of the ones I created, and was interesting to play with the formating in order to create consistency for the viewer. I also began implementing the practice of posting other student's videos directly to Facebook. These videos received more views on Facebook than those that are only placed in stories on the website.

The video above was another installment of videos produced to make the Missourian's Facebook more visual. This video showed the changes to downtown Columbia due to student housing developments. As shown in the graphic above, the short video performed very well on Facebook. This experience allowed me to examine analytics for the video and discover what worked and what didn't with the audience.

I have taken several reporting classes that focus on video production. As shown in the video above, this is sometimes does not include broadcast writing, in order to allow the subject to tell the story, rather than the anchor.

For a Mother's Day story I set out to the streets of Columbia to ask residents what their mom's favorite sayings are. This video allowed for further engagement with our audience by going out into the community in order to gather their experiences and share them with others.
