Snapchat is relatively new medium, one that many newsrooms are eager to use in order to find innovative ways to share news. Through this platform, journalists are able to be fun and creative in order to produce entertaining content for their audience. I was able to experiment with this platform through my position as a community outreach member at the Columbia Missourian, shown in the videos below. During my time at Newsy, I also conducted qualitative research on Snapchat in order to better understand user behavior.

Facebook is the most popular social media amoung all age groups, so it has incredible potential for audience engagement in all news organizations. I have studied techniques to increase this engagement through strategically writing Facebook posts, as well as implementing comment policies. 

Twitter is the place for breaking news and its demographics suggest a younger audience for news organizations. Knowing this, I have utilized Twitter for live-tweeting, and to share time sensitive news. Twitter is also a good source of engagement. I have studied techniques to increase retweets and likes on Twitter in order to promote an engaged audience.
